How
long can this external battery (AMP60) run?
Actual running
time may vary, depending on notebook computer's configurations
and what kind of applications running. The AMP60 have
a capacity of 60Wh (Watt-hour):
You can compare
this battery's capacity with your internal laptop battery
capacity to figure out how long this battery can power
up your notebook. For example, if your notebook's internal
battery output is 10.8V & 4000mAh, then your notebook's
internal battery capacity is 10.8V x 4000mAh = 43200mVAh
= 43.2Wh (Watt-hour).
(Please
note that internal capacity of battery and capacity
as stated on AC adapter is different)
If your brand
new fully charged internal notebook battery can run
3 hours, then the AMP60 external
power can theoretically run about 60Wh/43.2Wh x 3
hours = 4.2 hours. Discount this usage hours by about
7% due to resistance or heat loss and you should get
a fair estimate of 3.9 hours.
If you are
using AMP120 (which have a capacity of 120Wh), you may
substitute the values accordingly for the estimate usage
hours of the AMP120 for your laptop.
Again,
actual running time varies for every notebook and at
different occasions. It is also dependent on notebook
computer's configurations and the kind of applications
running. For example, screen brightness, the use of
the CPU, the hard drive, the CD drive, and other peripherals
results in an additional drain upon the battery, effectively
reducing the batter's run-time. The total run time of
the battery is also heavily dependent upon the design
of the notebook. To ensure maximum performance of the
battery, optimze the computer's power management features.

IMPORTANT
NOTE
When using
the AMP60 on your laptop via the DC-in inlet, the laptop
is actually assuming that it is getting power source
from the AC power adapter. Therefore in this case, your
laptop will be running at FULL POWER mode. (Highest
screen brightness, fastest fan speed and CPU speed =
shorter usage hours)
If is therefore
advisable to manually change the Power Management Setting
on your laptop to battery mode so as to conserve energy.
Only when it is set to Battery or Power Saving mode,
then only will you get a more accurate comparison of
the usage hours running on the laptop's internal battery
vs the AMP60 external battery.
